This policy describes how ROOTCAUSE LLC (“Root Cause Test,” “we”) handles information when you use www.root-cause-test.com or purchase the Root Cause Bioenergetic Scan.

Who we are

ROOTCAUSE LLC operates this site. Questions: test@root-cause-test.com.

Information we collect

• Account details you provide (name, email, phone, password hash).
• Order and payment metadata. Card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
• Hair and saliva samples and related scan files you or our team upload so we can complete your wellness scan and report.
• Optional records you add to your portal (for example wearable exports or documents you choose to share).
• Food Scanner data: barcodes you scan, product searches, and photos of food labels, foods or meals you choose to submit. If you are signed in, the resulting product name, score, and nutrition estimates are saved to your scan history and nutrition log.
• Basic site analytics such as pages viewed, how you arrived, and general device type (see Analytics and cookies).

Food Scanner and app

• Camera and photos. The camera is used only when you tap to scan a barcode or take a photo. Barcode reading happens on your device. Photos you submit are sent to our server and to our AI provider (xAI) to read the label or estimate the meal, and are not stored by us after the result is returned.
• Product lookups. Barcodes and search terms are sent to Open Food Facts, a public food database, to find product details. No account information is sent with them.
• Guests. If you are not signed in, scan results are shown on screen and are not saved to an account.
• Personal filters. If you have a Root Cause wellness report, signed-in scans may use it to show your personal food filters. These filters are educational preferences, not a medical diagnosis.
• We do not use Food Scanner data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Analytics and cookies

We use first-party analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. When you open a public page we record the page, the website or campaign link that referred you, your general device type, browser and operating system, your browser language and timezone, a rough country if our hosting provider supplies one, and a random visitor ID.

• Cookies. We set two first-party cookies: rc_vid, a random visitor ID that lasts up to 1 year, and rc_sid, a session ID that expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. They contain no name, email, or health information.
• No raw IP addresses. Our analytics do not store your IP address. We keep only a scrambled (salted) code that changes every day, so visits cannot be linked across days by IP.
• Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. We may use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity on public pages to see aggregated usage and page interactions such as clicks and scrolling (form inputs are masked). These services may set their own cookies. They are not loaded on your dashboard, reports, account, login, or admin pages, or when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
• We do not use analytics for advertising, we do not sell analytics data, and analytics data is never part of your wellness report.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep account data while your account is open. You can permanently delete your account and its data (login, scan history, nutrition log, reports, and uploaded documents) at any time from your dashboard under Account → Delete my account and data, or at /account/delete. You can also email us from your account email to ask us to delete it. Stripe keeps its own payment records as required by law.

Children

Root Cause is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

How we use it

We use this information to process Stripe checkout, fulfill your scan, create your wellness report, operate your client dashboard, send transactional email or text, and improve the site. Samples and scan files are used for your wellness scan and report — not to sell a medical diagnosis.

Sharing

We share information with service providers who help us run the business (Stripe for payments; Render for hosting; xAI for AI analysis of photos and documents you submit; Open Food Facts for product lookups; Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for aggregated site analytics when enabled; and email/SMS vendors). We do not sell your personal information.
